I have a Sharp LCD LL191AB monitor that i just got a couple days ago. everything is fine and dandy except i have running lines on my monitor. the lines are kinda like the refresh rate lines you see when a video camera is recording a monitor, except there are more of them. Here is a picture of what i'm talking about click me. Those gray lines that i drew are basically the same lines on my monitor except the monitor lines are more faint and thinner and all spaced apart throughout the entire screen (hence, the repeat that i wrote). They would appear like they're moving up the screen. when i turn my fan control to max speed, the lines would move down instead of up. but just right now at this instance, regardless of if i turn the fax speed to high or low, it still moves down. well....as of this very instance, the line disappeared. oops, it came back again :( arggg, i wish i can give you guys a better description than this but this monitor seems to be playing games with me. that b@stard.

anywho, i have 2 other people that can confirm that the lines do exist. if you guys can give me any feedbacks at all, it'll be great. i don't think there's anything nearby interferring with the electricity cause i have tried unplugging everything except my monitor and computer. thanks.

EDIT: when i highlight a jpeg file, the lines are very noticeable. once highlighted, i tried messing with the speed of the fan controller. here is one thing definite: when i turn up the speed of the fan, the lines move quicker/the frequency of the line moving is higher. but when i turn down the speed, the lines move down/up slower.

My first guess as to the reason would be your video card, what kind is it, do you have the right drivers, etc.

Next would be power supply, seeing as how it seems related to fan control.

Last would be, God is punishing you for your background, and all the kittens you've killed as a result.

i have a 9700 pro. all the drivers, xp updates, etc.

as for the power, i will try it on my friend's comp. thanks for pointing that out.

as for the kittens...i hate those b@stards. i do my wrist excercise purely out of protest against kittens and NOT because of pleasure.

I'd rip out every card and every fan.. everything except your gfx card and your harddrive and see if the problem still remains.

What refresh rate are you using? Go into your graphics card control panel. Go to the options and see if enabling alternate DVI mode or reduce dvi frequency makes any difference.

Try using 60HZ see if using the DVI-VGA adapter makes a difference. Remember something about using the DVI side instead of the VGA side fixing something. Maybe it's the same thing that's happening to yours.

Check the signal cable. Is it running near a fan? near a fan power cord? maybe the cable is just a REALLY low quality cable with crappy shielding. To me it sounds like it is getting interference through the data cable.

There is a setting in your monitor... its called either phase or pixel clock ... or both... these have values you can adjust so as to fix the type of issues you are having.... I did that on a KDE LCD once...

This is off topic but I love your background picture! Also, where did you get the App that displays the time, weather etc?

is a dvi to vga adapter the same as a vga to dvi adapter? i have the one that came with my radeon card. i currently have a vga monitor and tried hooking it to the adapter but the monitor didn't get any signal.
