I have a computer with DSL and the user installed the SBC ameritech software. Ok I go to the users home and I install a DSL router. Great except now the computer keeps pulling up the wrong DNS info. I have no idea where it is pulling it from. Anyone have any idea why this is happening or ever deal with it. I am going to blow the computer away because it is ME and therefore sucks but I was wondering. I hate it when a computer problem stumps me.
Thanks

IF it is SBC, then it is probably Enternet 300

(you are right ME bites big ones..... if you end up upgrading to XP, you don't need any outside PPPoE software, XPs works fine)

With a router you don't need any PPPOE software installed, do you think that could be the problem?
I can't be for sure, but I thought with my Linksys, in manual, there was a warning to make sure any software like winpoet and such was to be uninstalled before connecting router.

Try looking for a static DNS entry somewhere on the machine or router, use the management software that is provided if any to check the router cfg's, odds are they'res a static entry, also uninstall all PPOE software when running a broadband router it gets confused by NAT from the router.

Sorry man. I posted this and booked. Yep. I always post here and hardly ever get a response so sadly I was sinical. Anyhow yes it has ether300 which I already uninstalled. It is so friggin weird. It grabs some old DNS info now matter what I do. I am going to blow it away and install XP at this point. I am not sure how else to fix it.
I uninstalled everything network related and still no luck.
