wait wait! i did not know that the roc was stolen initially! It was when i made the purchase that i asked him where he got it. he said it was an "extra" proc of upenn. They'll never know it was missing. Thats when i knew it was technically stolen but not technically ntolen as well since it isn't in the UPENN inventory if you know what i mean. Ahh forget it. People give too much heat.
You should've made this clear in your original post.
AND BOTTOM LINE IS THAT I DIDN"T KILL THE PROC! it died on me!!!! I mean how else would you know if something was an extreme edition other than by testing it. the heatspreader said 3.4 when i recived it so i was a bit curious since i kow ee's say ee's.
Right, but after you found out it was not the right processor, why continue using it?

first off, whoo a lifer. is that the highest title given to a senior member?

i apologize for not clearing that up. See the thing is that i read that northwoods and ee's were being built using the same manufacturing process that ended up with both chips having a full count of transistors. I didn't know at athat time whether the extreme edition had a title on the heatsink so i proceeded to confirm my thoughts. I ran cpu-z, it was fine. I guess i should have taken it off. I left the pc on the whole night while i was encoding some songs and yes, the next morning it blacked out. So i guess its my fault then. *sigh....
