somehow my computer got infected with a worm virus (W32.Kwbot.C.Worm)... anyways out of no where my norton antivirus 2002 says i got a virus and it could not repair it. all of a sudden i get this wierd dialog box saying "do you want to play divx 3.xx content with divx 4?" (i dont know if this a system glitch or the virus --it looks like the message box i get after installing a divx 4 codec) so i did a manual scan of the virus on the folder that was infected... it caught it and i quartined the infected file and deleted it. i also went to norton.com and researched the steps need to remove my virus.... it told me to remove several keys in the registry that the virus created.. well when i looked for these keys none of those keys were there-- this lead me to believe that the virus had not had a chance to run yet. so after that i did a full scan of the computer in safe mode and no virus is detected.... but i dont know if it is just me, but im still not sure if this virus did or did not activate on my computer.. everything seems to be running just fine... but still... i feel uneasy (what's with the random divx dialog box?) -- the virus was one that could allow hackers to take control of my computer remotely. i just want to know how do u guys deal with these situations? as you can tell, i did not have much experience with viruses.

After that, my advice would be to try another trojan/antivirus software like possibly a free one...just so you can assure yourself that the system is clean.

everyone gets the "do you want to play divx 3.xx content with divx 4?" when installing the divx 4 codec.

just scan weekly with the latest norton definitions and relax.
