Hi Kevin...

Try reinstalling first. If that doesn't help, then it could be a memory issue - I'd advise running memtest to check your RAM for errors.

I get that EXACT memory error. I can't figure it out. I have reinstalled the game multiple times, I have formatted and started fresh with windows installs 3 times now. I have also tried various mobo and vid card drivers to no avail. I've even tried both sticks of my ram individually in each slot my board has. I'll let you know if i find anything, I have read that turning agp down to 4x helped a couple people. I feel for you on this one, but am glad to see that a non-amd user has the same issue.

I formatted and installed windows fresh, yet again. All i did after was install my nforce 2 drivers, geforce drivers, and then hl2 & cs:s and their required updates. Everything is running fine, which is making me think it's either a more recent steam update that hasn't installed yet or is a winxp update that is causing the problem. I'm scared to start installing other things now for fear of messing it up though.

 This is tech support, not Off Topic. If you're not going to post anything useful, don't friggin post. now GTFO.

Anyways, to uninstall steam, make sure you also clean out the registry files associated w/ steam and hl2. Also, uninstall your video card drivers completly, and install the 66.7x drivers, as people have always had some sort of problems w/ the 7x.xx drivers. You must uinstall everything first, then do a clean install of steam, and the drivers. Make sure that antivirus or any other background prevention-measures software (like microsoft and spybot's anti-spyware programs.)

I'm pretty certain that this will do the trick.
