Custom build, estimated cost ~$3,500-4,500 buy parts from Newegg.

AFAIK there are no boutique builders who will provide all of this.

For gaming the i5-2500k is just as good as either of the i7's for other tasks the i7's will win but for gaming the i5 is the same.

Actually Im thinking the 970x would be a much better buy than the 990x. Same thing, less money...especially if someone else is overclocking it.

But I think the 2600K is better still, though it limits your video card options. Dang it, wheres LGA2011?!

I couldn't even begin to imagine the input delay with Quad SLI running under 100fps.
wat do u mean by that?
From a competitive gamers stance, SLI is basically a huge disadvantage vs a single card. If you are going with 4 GPUs, its safe to say that you're basically shooting to keep your framerate above 60. AFR is basically going to cut that 60 by 75%. Each frame will have 66.66ms of extra input delay attached. That is 8 times more than those of us with 120hz monitors and 1 GPU @ 120fps. Sure we might not have super detailed shaders and 50x SSAA, but everything else being equal, we will be kicking ass in multiplayer.

This is not to stop you from getting Quad SLI, a lot of people don't even notice shitty engines/massive input delay. Fallout 3/Farcry 2/Bioshock are great examples of this. Hundreds of thousands of people love these game, but the fact of the matter is the engines blow balls.

More is not always better. I really wish Lucid Hydra would have stayed around to provide decent SFR. Sure it was expensive as hell, and it didn't scale as well as AFR, but it was a much, much, much superior solution imho.

"will 2600k over clocked work with quad sli 590 evga hydro copper"

Yes, the P67 motherboards can support 2 video cards in an X8 X8 configuration. Thats enough to plug in both 590s but they may become bandwidth limited vs the old enthusiast X58 platform that could do x16 x16. The dual X8 should be fine with any two GPUs but with a total of 4 Im thinking it could be an issue. Though you really dont need dual 590s anyway...so overkill 😀 Youd be like 1 of maybe 10 on earth who have that.

Actually, X58 would also allow X16 X8 X8 for three video cards...so you could do triple 580s, which I would think is superior to 590 SLI. Three faster cards are better than 4 slower ones, also they can be split up later in life...sold off or used in another rig if you upgrade. And the 580s are better do to the fact that they have a full cooling solution dedicated to just one GPU, where the 590 has to share the cooling between its 2 GPUs. That has already caused problems for the 590.

for the cheapest price?!

This is of concern to me. That's like saying "I want a brand new Ferrari for the cheapest price." If you are aiming for that level, price should not be your concern. If price is a concern, then you can't afford it.

Yeah I just saw the article and its interesting to see ATI scale better when it always use to be the other way around. 2 GPUs is definately a good thing, the third gives like half as much...which means its really only using like 40% of its processing potential. Have to wait and see if more screen can make more use of that third card...

I dont agree, just because you can afford a ferrari doesnt mean you want to get ripped off. Maybe youve never bought a ferrari and dont know what to get or about how much it should cost. You cant tell me you just walked into the nearest dealer and paid them whatever they wanted for whatever car they had...I can gurantee you did a little research first. And as far as computers go, seems like a good place to ask would be a computer enthusiasts forum.

OK, I am going with 1 GTX 590 EVGA Classified, 1 i7 990z or 2600k Over clocked, 8 or 12GB 1600 Ram, 1 120GB to 160GB SSD, 1 2TB HDD, 1 DL Reader / Writer, 1 BD Reader / Writer, Coolmaster HAF-X, and the best mobo and psu for this setup. Also I want the system to run quite but I dont want water cooling. How should I do this? Cyberpowerpc? Custom Build?

OK, heres what I did, verify this for me before I order if you don't mind. I configured it like this so it is 100% silent , with water cooling, and it will be ready for future upgrades, like adding another graphics card. idk if I still need fans on the case. But yea let me know if theres anything I should change! thanks
