I am trying to "Uninstall" my old Radeon 8500 drivers so I can install new drivers. When I use the "Uninstall" feature in "Add/Remove" programs, that works fine; however, when I do a search for any old driver stuff still lingering around and FIND it, XP won't let me delete them. The only options I have are "Extract, and Move"....WTF?? Why can't I delete these old files????

follow the instruction at www.rage3d.com for uninstalling the ati drivers from xp. and yes, you can delete them or not allow xp to automatically install the generic ati drivers. in short, when the radeon was previously installed, xp should have an .inf file relating that card. it's labeled as oem# (0,1,2...) in the systems folder. find it & get rid of it along with all other .dll files. also, delete all ati registry settings.
