Help! I can't decide on a system

I have been an AMD supporter for a while now but the performance just isn't there anymore. I am doing mostly video editing and 3D design and I know P4s are much better at compressing files. So here are 2 systems I have in mind, which one should go in the shopping cart?

There is a little price gap but if it is worth it I am willing to pay. Let me know what you guys think.

The Intel setup will probably be faster

Definitly the Intel. It's quite obvious that the mid to high performance market is shifting to Intel's favor. Performance-wise the Intel setup will probably beat the AMD setup by a margin, not a big margin, but a significant enough margin to justify the additional cost.

Also you might want to avoid Corsair twinpack PC3200. They don't seem to work too well with the new Intel chipset. Go with just 2 sticks of it or 2 sticks of PC3500 or PC3700.

I'm building a similar system for a client. The Intel system is the better solution right now.

intel, but do u really need a third HDD since you already have 200GB of storage???

I dunno...when it comes to games, AMD2700+ performs on par with P43.06 (Radeon 9700 Pro, 2x256 Corsair XMS 3200). The results are THE same. BUT, when it comes to applications, like video editing, 'course the p4 will have the edge. So if you, as u said need it for video editing, then yeah, u need the p4. In 3d design both'd perform bout the same. Good luck!

I wouldn;t make my mistake and make sure to buy like PC3500+ ram if u can find it. My sammy stuff runs real slow, only goes to 210FSB before it craps out on me.

But the P4 Rocks the daylights outta the Barton on compression.

Thanks for the input guys, it looks like I will be going back to Intel after alll these years. I'll be sure to get PC-3500 instead of 3200 when I buy it.

Yeah, especially with the Hyper Threading which helps out a whole lot during video editing you'll be going through those editings fast...
