Help!, I can't convert a qoutlook express .mbx file into anything else!

I'm trying to migrate a computer with win98/outlook express to XP/outlook express.
The export function on the old box doesn't work.
there's about a thousand email messages to save.
I've tried like 5 different ways, outlook, outlook express, eudora wont import them. I did get them into mozilla mail, but I can't get anything to import from that.

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I think outlook on win98 and xp work the same so you just have to copy the mbx file to the right place in the winxp installation

nope the old OE used .mbx format and the new OE uses another (can't remember right now)

GOT IT!
I downloaded the old netscape 4.x it imported the old OE files perfectly, then I imported from the into OE6
only took 5 mail clients to do this

the new format for OE6 is .DBX
