Help!! how to setup a server under win....

i need to setup a lan at home to share my ISDN line, printer and files between two computers.

i think it'll be good to get a new cheap machine to setup a server on it so my two main workstations will be only clients (one win98se (gaming, recording studio) other win2000 (office apps).

so i need some advice,

will i get any real advantage from setting up a server?
should i run ICS on one of the machines and forget the server?

any help will be realy apreciated.

thanks in advance.

it depends on what you want to do with the server. My friend has a computer that is a webserver hosting a domain and hosting an FTP site and that computer is also the one that runs ICS. i'd reccomend using a server only if you'll have lots of clients. if not, then i think using one of your current computers will be fine.

the main reason i was thinking about setting up a server is that i didn't want to use any resources from my computers runnig a server on any of them as i use them for multitrack recording and gaming.

any other suggestions?

You could do a combo and run ICS on your server. The server could also be a websever or ftp site. It wouldn't compromise your two other workstations.
