The best product I have found is "Simple Green". It is a cleaner, degreaser you can find at just about any hardware or maybe even a grocery store. Dip a Q-tip into it and wipe the Arctic Silver off. I wouldn't soak the cpu in it, but I have gotten it all over the chip without any problems. Just let it evaporate.

<< It got all over my Tbird >>

how did you manage that? did you push too hard on the syringe plunger?
you could try some rubbing alcohol on a dampened cloth but it will most likely be a ah heck to get it all off. remember though, that stuff is supposed to be almost non-conductive if the literature is to be believed!

I did this once (too much Artic Silver all over the place), and my Duron would no longer boot. It scared the hell out of me. It was tough to get off, but I just took a paper towel, ear swabs and some rubbing alcohol to get it off. It worked quite nicely and I'm back running my Duron 600 to 900.

Can you use like garden-variety isoprophyl alcohol with a cottom swab or something?

If what you said was rubbing alcohol, then sure :)
I have no idea what the scientific name for the thing is.

I sprayed a little OOPS! on the end of a q-tip and it came right off, then went back over with rubbing alcohol (on different q-tip) to wipe residue off...

I got it all over a Clients Duron 750 once..it booted fine. I ended up just wiping it off and then using rubbing alcohol....but from what I can tell it's non-conductive.

I used WD-40, and works pretty well.
I learned this from Dan's post, and works much better than alcohol or nail polish removers.
