Help, how do I replace my Zalman alcu 7000 fan

Hello,

My northbridge on an abit as7, is dying, it doesn't spin half the time.
I'm replacing it with a northbridge heatsink, but
I thought the zalman was making the horrible sound.
I broke off 2 blades by accident by touching it wrong.
I bought a new zalman fan, but it comes in a housing. 92mm fan.
I am wondering how to get it out, so I can replace the zalman
on the heatsink, which has 2 screws and comes right out.

ANy ideas. THe 92mm fan, I can see anything that is holding the fan onto the base?
SHould I just try to pull it off?

Call Zalman, explain the situation, tell them you want to send in the HSF to be repaired. They'll probably do it for free, or send you a whole new unit.
 
they might fix it for free, but since he broke it himself and if he actually tells the truth, they still might charge him.
 
The fan is held on by 2 screws from underneath. To get at them you will have to remove the bracket by taking out the phillip screw on each side.
 
Ok, I know about the 2 screws, they made it easy to actually replace, but
you ever see another fan that fits back in that place.

By the way, I grafted 2 nails onto the zalman heatsink, and then hung the new zalman fan off of it.
(because I could'nt figure out how to detach the fan off of the plastic braket.)

Kinda wierd but that extra space underneath(where the fan was,) now gets air, and i've dropped about 5 degrees, off off load and dropped about 2 degrees on idle. 48-64 Used to be 50 and 69. I know thier high values, only 2 case fans. Getting more to see if I can get it to drop lower. system is 38, ps 37

Patent the improvement to the heatsink and and add another patent for the use of nails. Get rich! Remember me when I come to your house begging for a crust of bread.
