Help!! Hot case temperature

My case temperature for my computer xp 2500 at 2.2 ghz is running very hot 40C on load(living in Long Island)! while my cpu is 38-46 on load. what should i do, my case wiring looks very neat and ive opened up the side of my case to let in cool. recommend me some cheap but good fans.
 
40C is not hot. 46C CPU load temps are nothing to worry about. Those are normal temps. Anything above 60C is hot.
 
You might want to get a digital thermometer and measure your case temps that way.

You can't get a lower CPU temp (38C) than case temp (40C) unless you are using water or TEC cooling. One or more of your sensors might be FUBARed.

Interesting... case temps shouldn't be anywhere near that high... maybe your motherboard temperature? And the CPU temps are fine, mine can run as high as 57C on a hot 100 degree day.
 
I take CPU temps with a grain of salt. Some montherboards report higher or lower temps than what they really are.
 
i live in long island so the temperatures are around 60-75 degrees farenheight. my room temps are around 70-80. i think 40C is around 100-110 degrees farenheight.
 
Your PC is only going to be as cool as the ambient air around it and seeings how air cooling isn't as effective as say, water cooling, your always gonna have tempatures above ambient air tempature for obvoius reasons. If your trying to cool a 50c CPU with 40c ambient air, your not gonna get great resulting tempatures, no matter how many fans you throw at it.
 
Opening the side of your case wouldn't help in bringing your case temp down, instead, it may actually mess up your case's airflow,

If you have to replace the fans and don't want to deal with too much noise, then you can just replace the exhaust fan(s) with a more powerful one.

Coolermaster makes reasonably quiet fans with decent airflow.
