Help

I recently purchase the SVC gc-68 heatsink and I broke off the metal bracket that holds the heatsink to the motherboard. Is there anyplace online where I can purchase the bracket? I have called SVC and they said they can't do nothing for me. I don't want to buy a new heatsink for that metal bracket.

Thanks

If SVC can't/won't help, you are probably looking for a part that is not available individually.

While it sux to loose the $$ to replace the HS, it is better than loosing the CPU to a jury rigged solution (IMO)

Plz Help. There has to be a place where I can just get the bracket. I really do not want to spend the money for a new heatsink.

Thanks

Only idea I was able to come up with was shop local computer shop (don't trust pix on network) and see if there is some El cheapo HS with a similar clip.

maybe you could swap it to your HS with miminum $$ loss.

(I still think my first post is the one you want)

A new GC-68 heat sink with clip, fan and finger guard is $4.99! (FCS!)

Buy a new one.

If you had an AX-7 or something, that would be a different story...

if its only 4.99 then i would imagine buying a new clip if possible would bealmost the same amount
also buying another heatsink for a similar clip would be about the same amount if not more

just buy another one
you can alwasy find a use for a heatsink to use on something else (back of video card perhaps?)

Yeah; places often charge way too much for individual parts. I had a printer who's printhead assembly died. New printer: $50. New printhead: $90. No good followup to make this like a Mastercard commercial: Priceless.
You might just have to buy a new one; hang on to the old one, maybe you can make some crazy video cooler out of it; never know.

What did you do to break the clip? I've never done that to a heatsink; the clips are usually pretty strong.

Iilac these guys are right! To buy just the clip would cost you just as much or more plus the shipping costs. Why are you quibbling over $5? Most people spend that for one lunch.

...Ask a local, and small, computer shop if they have an extra. Otherwise check out a local recycling or electronics disposal company and see if they have any.
