HELP! HDA Digital X-Mystique 7.1 Gold Sound Card PROBLEMS!

I've been playing WoW since December and was having sound problems with my onboard sound (static sometimes, loosing sounds and some sounds would never play). I was using the nForce MCP-T Soundstorm w/ optical digital output from my Epox 8RDA+ motherboard connected to a Dolby Digital home theater amp.

WoW tech support finally convinced me that if I changed to a PCI sound card the problem would be fixed. So I purchased the X-Mystique PCI sound card. I disabled the onboard sound and installed it and now I can hear things I never heard from my Soundstorm onboard sound! BUT a new problem has emerged...

Occasionally in game (at random?) I get a loud "BEEP!" sound from the card. I can't get it to go away! I can force it to happen if I go to Programs->C-Media PCI Audio->Helicopter and run the helicopter test program. When the program starts, I always get the "BEEP!".

On my Epox 8RDA+, I've tried slot 3 & slot 4 (both do not share IRQ's) with the same result. I even tried the card in my Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe board (slot 5) and the same thing happens.

Does anybody have any idea what is going on? I'm starting to think the card is bad. I'm going to RMA it back to Newegg if I can't sort this problem out. Please help! Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Seriously the beeping sounds like it may be a resource issue.

I remember a few years ago using a sound card card called a Game Theatre by Hercules. On certain VIA chipsets it would do weird stuff like that and it was cured by drivers.

Yes, I'm using the latest driver (5_12_1_46_4_32BIT). I never even tried the drivers on the CD that came with it. All drivers, service packs and software (on both systems) are the latest level.

On my Epox board, if I put it in slot 3, device manager shows it using IRQ 16 (all by itself). If I move it to slot 4, it uses IRQ 17 (all by itself). Same problem either way.

The "BEEP!" even happens if I hook up all the analog cables and select analog out to the receiver, so I know it's not the way my receiver is decoding the Dolby Digital signal.

EDIT: And nVidia hasn't updated the motherboard drivers for the nForce2 chipset since Sept. 17, 2004! So, either they are stable, or they have stopped supporting it...

:( I didn't have this issue with mine (although never tried wow). The drivers that were out when I bought the card were crap but I've had no problems with the latest ones.

Well, after trying the Mystique in another computer, I am sad to say that this card (using the newest driver) has a major resource problem/conflict with nForce2 motherboards. It acts the same way (random "BEEP!") on every nForce2 system I've tried it on.

I'm currently using the old driver from the installation disk (dated 11/04). The beep is gone, but this driver suffers from several known problems (such as surround speaker levels not adjusting with the main volume).

I am not very pleased and can not recommend this sound card to anyone with a nForce2 motherboard. YMMV...

EDIT: I've emailed their tech support 5 times and they have not answered at all. Stay away from this card...

BUMP:

Over a month later, and I'm still waiting on the new driver. Tech support finally replied that they are still working on bugs...especially with the 64bit driver... :|

Have you gotten this sorted out? I'm still running an Asus A7N8X-E and I'm thinking about getting an X-Mystique.

No. The problem still exists. I tried the card with the A7N8X-E Deluxe motherboard and it has the same random "BEEP!" problem.

I just sent this email to Bluegears tech support:

Jay,

It's been over two months now, and you have not responded. I STILL have the same problem. I was told to wait for the new driver. It's been 4 months now, and no new 32-bit driver.

There is a problem when using this card with a nForce2 motherboard. During gaming (WoW), there is a random "BEEP!" sound. This fault can be reproduced by running the "Helicopter" sound demo program. As soon as the program starts, the "BEEP!" sound is always produced. Please fix this problem and release a new driver! Your card is useless without the fix and I cannot recommend it to others with the obvious problems it has. I feel like you STOLE $100 dollars from me and now you refuse to give your customers any tech support. I should have never bought this card.

If you can assure me that this card does work in a nForce2 motherboard AND no one else has this problem, than the card is defective and I need an RMA.

Here is their helpful response:

Hello,
I will check with our tech support team on this issue again. I am so sorry for this inconvenience.
Thank you.

That's all the response I get after waiting for months?
Ridiculous! :disgust:

Whoa, damn, good luck to you then, I can't believe I am actually about to utter these words, but I think I'll go with a Creative card, at least till these guys get their act together. I love my A7N8X-E like it were a son, I'ma keep using it, my Mobile Athlon XP 2600+, and my GeForce 6800GT, till they friggn blow up. Maybe when I move to a Socket M2 system, and the newer XDA/Bluegears card with DTS Connect (seems so much better than DDL) is out, I'll give them a try. Again, good luck, it seems like you're gonna need it if you're ever to get that card working.
