That's right, I have the actual, authentic 2k pro upgrade cd, but being the forgetful person that I am, I have lost or misplaced the paperwork with the CD key. Is there anyway I can make this CD work, or do I have to bite the bullet and buy another.

there are lots of ways to get a cd key, however this isn't the place to ask about those.

<< You guys are alot nicer than I am. :D >>

Well, I've been in his shoes, so I know the feeling...

I lost my Windows 95 CD Key many years ago, ended up having to buy another copy, that really ticked me off... Didn't know at the time how easy it was to get another. :D

But your point is valid, most people asking are just stealing, which they shouldn't do here...

I am not looking for an illegal key. I am wondering if it is possible to contact microsoft and buy an additional key, or something along those lines.

Did you even bother calling microsoft, or trying to contact them in some fashion in order to answer your own question? That might be the first place, as well as the smart way, to start in resolving your problem.

P.S.

Do not expect to be taken seriously on this forum if you fail to take the initiative to so sovling the problem on your own, rather than relying on others to do the work for you.

Good luck.

People have 'discussed' this before, you'll find suggestions if you Search usenet, such as the ones mentioned here to call microsoft. You'll also find a wealth of other knowledge. ;)

The Key is on the jewel case... take a deep breath, and inspect each and every one till you find it...

Customer: I lost my win2k cd-key.

MS-Support: So?

Customer: Can you give me a new one?

MS-Suppot: I am sorry, maybe you didn't check your calander...it is the year 2001, we don't support win2k anymore. Plus, you should buy WinXP, would you like me to transfer you to sales.

Customer: No support? I give in, take my money.

Yes.

Call (800)RU-LEGIT (really) and they will help you, directing you to the correct site. You may need to have the CD and a receipt handy.
