HELP! - Hard Drive Data Recovery

GasX

Lifer
My GF's laptop started making clicking noises over the weekend. Today it went nuts and then died. The sound, of course, was the hard drive coughing up its last breaths 🙁. She has three years of work on that computer and is screwed unless she can get back the data. An IT guy at her company said it would cost $3000. Is this true? and if not, how much would it cost?

Try removing the HDD and connecting it as a slave to your PC (get an adapter). You can then try lost and found or this.

[*]You could send it off to Drivesavers (800) 400-1904, but they charge a small fortune.

You can request a quote online from Ontrack. The last time we sent a drive to them, it was around $1100. Price depends on brand, size, model, etc.

Oh and you pay the fee whether they can recover anything or not. 🙁
