Help! Glitching Geforce 2 Pro!

I just got a Geforce 2 Pro from MSI (Starforce 8831) and whenever I play direct 3d games, I am getting either a screen that flashes, or polygons randomly appearing on the upper half of the screen. Now I'm getting these problems in Win98 and Win2k. I've tried the Detonator 3 drivers and the on CD drivers. I've even reformatted my system, but no matter what, the screen is either flashing, or polygons are popping all over.

Does anyone know what I can do to get rid of the problem? Or is my card itself faulty?

 
Oh yes, this problem resembles an overclocked video card. But I deliberately underclocked from the default 200/400 for a Geforce 2 Pro to the lowest it will go: 200/344. I still get the same problems even at such underclocked speeds.

Does anyone know what I can do, or is my card a defective one?
 
This only happens in D3D? Did you install the latest 4-in-1 drivers from Via? How old is the GF2 Pro purchase?

You may want to check your bios settings and set them to conservative settings to see if that will resolve the problem.

If all else fails try swapping the video card into another system or a friend's system if the problem persists. It could be the video card itself (w/c is why I inquired on how recent the purchase was made). If that is the case, you may need to RMA the card.
 
Yeah, this only happens in direct 3d. I tried the latest Via 4in1 drivers for the KT133. Same problem. Upgraded my Bios to the latest version. Still same problem. Today I discovered that Coolbits would let me further underclock the Geforce 2 (MSI's tool allows for down to 400/375) So I used Coolbits to get it to 175/360. Still same problem.

Hopefully, I will have a chance to swap cards with friends. A friend of mine ordered a DDR Athlon from Micron, and he said the Geforce 2 GTS he had was creating a yellow line in the monitor. Same problem when he swapped a monitor. Now this other friend had a Geforce 2 MX that was fuzzy in 2d mode in 3 computers, but worked fine in a 4th one. Is the entire Geforce 2 family prone to errors or what?

Anyway, I still got this problem in 2x AGP mode. So I might have to get an RMA, if Newegg will respond. I e-mailed them one week before yesterday, and they haven't replied. I bought this card on the 7th of June, and it came in one the 12th, so it is still new.
 
Hmmm... Try 1x Agp and see if that'll help. It could just be the video card. Be sure to swap it in your friend's rig when you get the chance to verify that it is the board.

That kinda blows that the board may be at fault. But it does happen. MSI makes killer motherboards and their video cards should be no different. Hopefully Newegg'll get back to new soon on an RMA.
