Here is my config.
Crucial PC2100 DDR 256MB CL2.5
P4 1.6A + GA-8IRXP F6 BIOS
GF3 Ti200, SB Audigy
WinXP Pro

I try the conventional setting FSB 125, DRAM 2.0, stock voltage 1.5v, PCI/AGP 1/66.
It boots up just fine and I use it for 3+ hours and ran 3D Mark 2001 SE (6856) , PCMark 2001.
3DMark report the internal clock as 1.97 Ghz.
Next reboot, the system shows the FSB as 132 at 2.11 Ghz ???
then it went to blank screen before windows and stays that way.

I try it again at FSB 126, again boot up fine but next reboot it change the FSB again to 123.

I haven't been able to succesfully go into windows at FSB more than 126.

Anybody have this problems ?
Do I have to change DRAM settings?
Could it be the memory ? (I've seen somebody with Crucial PC2100 and manage to get their 1.6A to 2.4 Ghz)

Interesting problem, I have the same board and never had that problem , you micht try setting cas latentcy back to 2.5 on DDR ,increase voltage to the CPU up to 1.55v , also increase DDR voltage .2 volts to see if system stabilizes at higher voltage, try felashing your BIOS to f6 again if none of this works exchange your board. Good Luck

thanks, I'll give that a try.
In the mean time, I snet out an email to Gigabyte to see if this is a defective board.

I am also having the same problem at both default and overclocked settings. It only seems to be happening when the motherboard has not been powered up for a few hours. It will lock during the memory check, reset itself and then show new FSB settings. If I manually reset during the second Post, it will then go back to the FSB set in the BIOS and boot into XP correctly.
Please post what Gigabyte tech support has to say about the problem. I will do the same.

My config
P4 1.6A
GA-8IRXP F6 BIOS
GF3 Ti200
Kingston PC2100 256MB CL2.5
Currently using onboard sound
XP home edition

TLS,
it's pretty amazing, our setup is almost the same :)
Anyway, I've email mwave.com (to check with then to see if the mobo is defective or not) and Gigabyte Tech support last Monday.
Haven't heard from them since. I will post the reply here whenever I receive them.
Anyway, are you saying that by readjusting the FSB the second time will set the FSB for good?
what about the third time?
PM me if you like to talk about this.

If other people have solution or similar problems, please post it here.

I don't think they will have a good answer for your question because
there is no guarantee from the company that you can OC the mobo at certain FSB
eventhough most people i know can go at least 133 easily on the FSB.

when you try to OC and failed, usually the most common thing will be
happened is the bios will be reset to FSB 100[default] or will
be reset to the last setting which working fine[123 in your case]
or the worst thing is you have to reset the bios[clear CMOS]

you can try it to increase the vcore and i think you will be able to
achieve higher FSB since GA-8IRXP you have is a nice mobo for OC'ing

good luck

I think you guys are having problems with the Dual Bios kicking in. When the mobo post it checks to make sure that the CPU setup is stable but if it is not then it will defaul to the last booted setting. Just my 2 Cents. I have this board and I am not having any problems with it. One think that does affect the OCing on this board is the memory and the memory settings. When you set it to use the SPD settings it seems set them very aggresively and that caused instability so what I did was just set it manualy and up the voltage to the ram

Good news (hopefully, finger cross)
I've done 3 restart so far everything is A-OK.
what I do is, set the FSB to 125, AGP to 1/66, DRAM to 2.0 and Voltage default 1.50
Boot up fine, ran some 3DMark and shutdown without crash.
Power on, go to BIOS, and change it (even though this time the FSB still 125, I retype it in) and let it boot.
It went to WindowsXP without a hitch, and the next one and the next one.
So right now I'm at 2.0A stabil.
will keep it that way till I get my hand on better DDR.
Thanks for all replies, especially TLS :)

BTW, does 6800 score on 3DMark 2001 SE with GF3 Ti200 (@2Ghz CPU) normal?
The test is at 1024*768*32

Yeah thats normal for a GF3 at stock speeds. If you o/c the Ti200 to near Ti500 levels then you will break 8000+ points on 3dMark 2k1 easy. The default speed for a Ti200 is 175/400 (core/memory) ... try running it at 220+/500+ .

I get about 8200 marks in 3dmark 2k1 with a 2.25 GHz P4 (overclocked) and a GF3 Ti200 @ 220/500.
