Help getting Windows file sharing to work nicely

I have two computers: a laptop and a desktop. Both are running XP Pro. Laptop is using a 54g wireless card and desktop is using 100mb ethernet connection to my Linksys WRT54GL router.

Up until last night, everything seemed to be working great. When I tried transferring files from my desktop to my laptop today, everything was really slow.

Laptop -> desktop = pretty fast. 175MB file transfers in about a minute using Windows file sharing.

Desktop -> laptop = really slow. Errors out if I try it from my laptop. Barely transfers if I try it from the desktop. I installed an FTP server on my desktop and I still get slow transfers.

Nothing changed on my desktop except for a Windows update regarding Korean text input. Any ideas?

EDIT: Checked my System Restore and remembered that I also installed the BF2 demo earlier today. I did a System Restore back to the point BEFORE I did the BF2 demo installation and now everything works again.
