Help getting SATA setup.

I've never used SATA drives before and hit a little snag while installing Windows XP Pro. It says setup did not find a hard drive on my computer. But the thing is, it shows up before the power on self test, it shows a raid utility screen and the HDD shows up.

A7N8X-E Deluxe Asus is my mobo and the HDD is a Seagate Barracuda 80 Gig Sata. Help help, need to get the new pc running. 🙂

Upon booting to the windows xp cd, at the bottom, you'll see something like "Press F6 if you need to install a third party SCSI or RAID driver".

Have a floppy disk with your sata drivers on it. You can make a disk either from cd or download a utility from your mobo manufacturer that will create the floppy.

Follow the on screen directions then install windows normally.

Wish I could help, having the same problem with Epox EP-8RDA3+ and Seagate 160GB Barracuda. Made several different floppies with drivers on it, do the F6 thing (WinXP) and still no go. Just about ready just to buy a second drive and see it that does it. Everything else seems to be working great. HD shows up on boot and RAID utility also. Any help would be appreciated, if I ever figure it out I will document and spread the word, this is a little frustrating.

Thanks all

To get the Asus to boot set to boot drive to SCSI too. Also when installing windows make sure all other Disk drives are unattached as it ussually will screw up your drive letters. If you still have problems finding the drive. Set "Boot to other Devices" to disabled.
