HELP -- fried my computer? AAAGGGHH!

I've got an EPOX 8rd3a board, just got an Athlon 2600+ mobile and 1 GB RAM. I set the timings at 15x133 (as recommended for this chip) and it defaulted back to 6x10mhz. I was able to get 10x133, so I tried another combination at 10x166m, and then 10x200mhz. On this last one, the thing froze when I was going back into BIOS, and I couldn't reboot (it kept checking drive A -- wouldn't display boot info even).

SO I put back old CPU and RAM and tried to start up -- no dice: a couple times gave low pitched sound, now just powers fans for a couple seconds and then shuts off. Any suggestions???

If I fried something, is it most likely the motherboard or CPU or ? Any chance the power supply could have blown?

I don't know where to start..... AAAAGGGHHH!

Did you reset the CMOS?

reset the bios either with the jumper or pull the battery for about 30 seconds and it should reset to factory bios installed....

Tried clearing CMOS -- the thing seems deader than a doornail right now. Now it won't even power up (tried unplugging everything except CPU, a stick of memory, keyboard, video, and PSU). I tested the PSU with a tester and it's fine. And I've tried different memory and different CPUs -- which leaves just the motherboard, right (or the video card).

This really stinks -- guess I'll overnight a new motherboard from NewEgg unless anyone has other ideas?

Does it give any beeps? No fan spin ups? I dont suppose your board has LED diagnostic lights?

I don't know what to tell you. Do all those things over again just to make sure.

Unplug your PSU. Set the cmos jumper to the clear position, pull all the power plugs from the board, pop the battery out and wait for about 15 minutes. Put the jumper in the run position, put the battery back in, and plug all back in. Enter the bios if you can and load optimized defaults, reboot, and set up the bios the way you want.
