FYI, AuctionWatch.com dropped ExchangePath as one of the payment options buyers can use to pay for a AuctionWatch launched auction. Here is one paragraph:

"Since the ExchangePath launch, we have been monitoring AuctionWatch
customer feedback from both buyers and sellers, and have become
increasingly concerned about ExchangePath's inability to respond to your needs.
Because of this, we will no longer offer ExchangePath as a payment
provider option on the AuctionWatch site beginning today, January 2, 2001."

Thanks,
Sun

Grr, I just checked my account and it's suspended as well. I don't even know why, I haven't used that account in a while. :)

Ya know what, there's lots of problems in the world, hunger, homelessness, drunkeness, physical abuse, drug abuse. Just like these problems, this isn't a hot deal either. I just don't think it belongs here. It's a BRAG AND MOAN!

hey bob.

i don't remembering meeting a mod named bob. please remind me if i forgot.

there are many things posted in all the forums that may not fall directly under the category to which they were posted. however, they are getting the attention that they need at that forum and therefore will remain there. if you have a problem w/ it...don't post. leave everyone else to handle whatever it is they need to. we are a community...not a bunch of smucks that pitch in deals in hopes of getting our greedy hands on something super-hot and damn those who don't.

In case you don't feel like reading all that: FUCK OFF!

Hi Callgirl,
You are the 3rd person that has deal with this guy! I think this guy must have SCAMed many people who sold items at E-bay. The other guy sold RAM worth over $2500 to him!
Can you contact me privately at mhfun@juno.com ? I need to get some info from you about how he paid his item.

Regards,

sorry to hear about your loss, I was at a new local computer store to pickup a cable and was when the fedex stopped in and I was talking with the owner and I mentioned that he had alot of packages going out, he said that he was selling alot to indonesia. I was thinking to myself this guys prices were extremely high, compared to pricewatch prices. and I had been Southeast Asia several times, and I know that there prices are almost comparable to pricewatch prices sometimes better. but I figured there were suckers everywhere in the world, but anyway the store was shut down a few months later, I guess it was all of that global ecommerce was good for business.

Made two transactions internationally, got burned both times :( :| :(

I am naive however and still believe that this is an exception to the rule. Nevertheless, it has been enough to keep me away from doing so again. Best of luck to you all in recovery.

I got an e-mail from some dope using an e-mail account @d-i-c-k-e-y.com and he wanted me to send him what I had but was willing to transfer the funds only under ExchangePath. I thought it was strange how he wanted it sent to Indonesia "as a gift". Sounded like a scam and I remembered the post here so I replied by telling him that that's a load of crap and that he's trying to scam me and he never replied back. I wonder why? :D

You are not naive. Most transactions can be successful if you take a few precautions. Don't ship until you can verify the funds are legit. I have shipped dozens of international packages without problems. If your FS item is on an auction site... here are some warning flags:

1. The final bid is much higher than similar items on that site.
2. Buyer insists seller ships Express Mail
3. Buyer pays with U.S. CC and asks seller to ship to "international friend"

This is not very different from most of the other payment sites.
In this case, you would be SOL with paypal as well.
So this then puts all the responsibility on your shoulders, as it should.
How much did you pay ExchangePath for the use of the service? YGWYPF.

As a seller, you make the rules.
Sun818's advise is great, use it.
You determine the risk you will take.
I never ship outside the US. Not even Canada. Not even if I have cash in hand.
Never leave a large amount of funds in payment accounts.
In this case, I would have sent package after funds were transferred
from ExchangePath to my bank, never before.
You would not have been ripped off if you had used these simple rules.

Paypal may have changed the rules, but they also added a little security for the price.
