the pins on my motherboard has broken off so i am left with no floppy drive. I need to format my computer. What should i do? I've heard something about making a bootable CD.. is this possible? If so then how can i do it?

Download an appropriate boot disk from bootdisk.com or other source, install Winimage, build a bootdisk image file, use your cd burning software to make a bootable CD using "floppy emulation", and you are good to go.
You can put other software on the rest of the CD including drivers and a self-extracting Winimage file of your boot disk for writing to actual floppies in future. Windows 2000 and 98, for example, fit nicely on one CD.

With Windows, You should only need to boot from floppy if installing 95, 98 or NT.....
ME, XP and 2000 all have bootable CD's.
