All the stuff I ordered (new sys specs below) will be here by Saturday and I've got a grip on the physical aspects. Now I need some detailed advice on Soft Menu III settings. Keep in mind I have never done this..

What should I adjust first and and by how much?

It's a KT7A so the CPU/FSB should be at 133/33?

Clock Multiplier Factors: How do you choose?

CPU FSB Plus?

Is it correct that I should only up the Core Voltage after it proves unstable?

What about the I/O voltage?

Am I missing anything?

I'd like to shoot for 1200MHz

Your soft bios will configure everything for you. If you want to OC. Unlock the L1 bridges.

First just get the thing running.
 
Oh yeah I got the mechanical pencil and all that. I'm upgrading from a KT7/TBird 800, I just never Overclocked before and need to know what to set first and by how much... Stuff like that.

 
First of all make sure your cooling is above average. With the FSB@100(default) start uping the multiplier. you should be able to get 100mhz extra(900mhz) without a voltage jump. Anything after that move the voltage up a notch for every .5X on the multiplier. Remember with the FSB@100 you can times the multiplier number by 100.i.e. 8X=800mhz,9X=900mhz,10X=1000mhz, etc. If you want to hit 1 gig, up the voltage one setting(from default) then set the multiplier to 10X. If it dosn't post up the voltage one more notch and so on until it posts. If you get a full bootup and no windows errors you did it. If it boots and windows gives you errors up the voltage one more notch and it should be good. WATCH YOUR TEMPS!!!! Everytime you up the voltage the temps will raise. I do not have an Abit board so I can't get to technical about the Abit Vcore setting. Once you get that far ask about uping the FSB.

My old chip/mobo is going to a friend (the KT7 and the 800)
The system I will be overclocking is:

Note that it is the NEW KT133A chipset that supports a 266 Front Side Bus (FSB@133)
So would I be setting the multiplier to 9x133 to get 1197?
