I am having hard time finding a cell phone that’s right for me. I’m hoping you guys can help me again.

Here’s the refined list of the features I'd like to have (finally got it all figured, i think):

- Music player that can play any song by searching for its name by keyword.
------ The phone must have physical keys to allow me to blindly pause, rewind, or skip tracks right out of my pocket.
------ Preferably not a transformer phone (slide/morph/split…)
------ 3.5mm standard jack or a good reason why it doesn’t have it (remote control that allows me all of the above while it itself has the 3.5mm jack - an example of a good reason)
------ I’m a music addict and the above are the primary functions for me. Correct me if I’m wrong, but touchscreens are out of the question because of this.

- Good camera. I’d like to take some pics occasionally. The mega pixel number is secondary to actual image quality. Still, I was thinking about 5mp.
------ 720p video would be nice, but not necessary.

- Wifi, naturally.
------ At least 320x240 and a 2” screen for some internet browsing
------ Ability to connect my win7 nettop to my phones wireless (not wifi) internet. Is this even possible?

- T9 keyboard preferable and I’d like to avoid qwerty.

That’s it. I wasn’t able to find a new phone that meets these criteria. The most recent one I could find was nokia n86 from 2009, but I can only find these used. I don’t care about price as much as I care about quality, and I prefer stability over speed. I also don’t care about the phone brand or US carriers as Im in Europe.

Am I looking for an imaginary phone and if not, what is its name?

Thank you!

Maybe the Cowon D3? This fits some of your requirements, but not others (No camera). But I don't think any phones have physical playback buttons...

Android 2.3 + Physical buttons for playback + AMOLED

Theres some good Sony Walkman phones but IIRC they are all sliders, you can get to all the music player controls with them closed though so that might work for you.

What about the W995?

Oh, nevermind, it's not a phone either Missed that part.

loved that reply! i laughed so hard :D

What about the W995?

w995 is also from 2009. I cant find it to buy it...

I might also mention that I dont particularly care if its a smart phone or not. I'm going to be doing very little on it other than listening to musing/taking pics/general phone stuff.... like making a phone call or texting.

Game/word processing and all the computer stuff- im gonna be doing on my computer. 10" nettop is rather small, but much better than phone- i imagine.

you're thinking iphone but no keys on there

some headphones will even let you skip songs by pressing a little button that's in the wire by your head. most music apps will let you skip and fast forward from the lock screen

Good luck doing that without taking the phone out of your pocket. ;)

If the OP doesn't need a smartphone, there's no need to recommend one which means he'd have to pay a data plan as well.

I say see if you can find that Walkman on ebay for cheap. Or craigslist.

I had a Nokia phone that did pretty much everything you need except the 720p. Got it in europe a coupla years ago and gave it to my son who naturally lost it. I forget the model number but it was a beautiful awesome phone. It worked with all GSM here in the states.

For better or worse I've taken nokia n79. It ticks all the right boxes, and while its not new, it wasn't expensive either.

If you do come up with a new one that does everything I want, I'll be sure to have a good look at it.

Thanks!

You really just need to get a phone you like and you a pair of headphones that have the physical key buttons on them to control your music.

Thanks for the suggestion abaez, but being a music lover means I wont use just any pair of headphones.

Now if there were a remote controller that had physical keys to control music and a 3.5mm jack on itself so that I could plug in any headphones... I'd be sold, and I'd get best camera phone that has wifi I could find - nokia n8 most likely.

And they have special headphones that will let you fast forward without touching the phone

If OP is a music lover as he says, he's not going to be using the stock headphones. They do the job, but even I can tell the difference in quality and I'm not even that crazy about music.
