help finding IP address on cable

tried "winipcfg" and only got some numbers for ethernet adapter but in IP slot all 0's first week with this but it sure is cool so far

be sure to select your network adapter from the drop down box. the default is PPP Adapter

As far as I know cable has dyanmic IP, so it changes each time you sign on. This should tell you your IP. http://www.dslreports.com/ip I'mnot sure if this is what you are asking. I don't know what you guys are talking about. It sounds like you are looking for a static IP to me.

winipcfg gives you ip information for both dynamic and static. it also allows you release the ip and try and grab a new one (usually you have to wait up to 24hrs -- sometimes it takes that long for the dhcp server to assign that ip to another user)

most cable modem users do not lose their ip unless they release it or the cable modem provider resets their dhcp server (which almost never happens)
