Question Help finding a 9pin usb header to micro usb adapter.

I'm in the process of adding a small LCD display screen to my ITX case. The screen is powered through a Micro USB connector. I have a free 9 pin USB 2.0 header on my motherboard (Asus Z690-I) and would like to use it to power the display. The problem Is I can't find a 9 pin header to micro usb adapter. I see plenty of 5 pin headers to micro usb, but not sure if I can use these.

Any suggestions?

Just convert it as you mentioned às it's just for power. It's not going to need high bandwidth from the sound of it.

I switched to using things like these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07TNHXTDP rather than buying different cables. I have some nice C cables that do 100W / 10gbps and are durable for everything. Just keep the adapters in a small box at the ready for when they're needed.

That would probably work as well. I'm good at hacking things to make them work the way I want them to rather than how they're designed. I took out a HDD from my car and converted it to a mSATA instead for the longevity / speed it might provide even though it's over an old IDE/133 interface. It got the job done but, then the OEM disabled G-Maps and I went in another direction with a new head unit running Android instead w/ a bigger + touch screen. Hacked the cabling needs with fakra splices instead of running additional leads everywhere tying in the GPS / Cellular into the OEM harness. Did something similar with a gauge mounted in a vent for monitoring performance of the car's systems.

You can make things do what you want them to do with a little reverse engineering.

It's a thought. I'm working with a Phanteks Shift XT case, so space is really at a premium.

space is always a premium. the only difference with this cable is you can use any other cable type and there will be a bump where you plug it in. I doubt you will find a micro usb from 9pin. its was most likely a cost factor. cheaper/more of a profit margin to make female usb cable that would be used by everyone than make every single "older" cable that most people will not use. unfortunately, micro usb is on its way out just like mini usb. most companies went with universal over all encompassing. best you can get a female cable or probably a cable with a adapter on the end if you can even find a full usb to micro usb adapter.

Just as an update, I looked up the pin-out on the 9 pin USB header and figured out it's basically 2 separate sets of USB pins. I used a 5 pin Header to Micro USB connector and it worked perfectly. Now I just have to play around with the gauge/screen set up. Here is the final result.

I don't think I would chop into my $150 case though to add a screen to it. Though it's mesh on the front so, it might be possible to hide it behind the mesh and mount it to the fan rails. I just use wbemin though for monitoring that stuff or glances from a CLI terminal.

The Shift XT case just happened to be well suited for this. It comes with an infinity mirror in that spot, so all I had to do was remove the plastic mirror under the glass and cut a slot through the plastic fascia and metal case to run the ribbon cable for the display. The screen I purchased fit perfectly in the slot.
