Isn't it amazing that Steve Fossett can get high resolution maps of large section of Nevada wasteland mapped within two weeks, when entire sections of suburban Pennsylvania and Connecticut STILL look like low resolution crap in Google Earth years later it was introduced?

Google doesn't do any of the mapping themselves. They buy the images from companies that specialize in aerial photography. Google is at the mercy of whoever is doing the photography.

I actually did use google earth, and I didn't see any plane at all. Maybe I was doing something wrong.

I would that you would really be able to find anything with the imagery available. You really need high quality sub half meter imagery to pick up the pieces or ground scarring that would be left after a crash of an aircraft that size.
