I am looking to get a new printer cause well this one I have I feel sucks so bad I wanna throw it out the window. I have an HP 1315 all in one and have had nothing but bad feelings about it for a while. I feel the printing is ok for what I use it for but I feel it eats ink like mad and the software is doing nothing but failing to load now.

This was the 1st printer I ever bought so its one of those things I dont know alot about. I wanna get something thats the same size pretty much but that will not eat ink and is easy to install. I have been looking at the Canon MP500 but I dont do ANY photos at all I jusy need something to print maps and stuff from websites along with having good scan and copying for docs etc. I wanna keep it no more then 200 bucks.

IF you are concerned about inkjet consumable costs, the older non chipped Canons are the way to go.
Since you seems to want a bundled scanner, the Canon MP750, MP760, or MP780 are all worth looking at.
If you can find them! Look on ebay or check with various electronic chains as they are clearing the last of their inventory.-------all these models are based on the Canon ip4000 printer engine that will offer about a 2x to 3x reduction in consumable ink costs over your HP using OEM cartridges.------but using cheap readily available third party cartridges for the Canons can cut your consumable costs up to 7x over OEM Canon cartridges.------unfortunately the newer chipped Canons can't use these third party cartridges. At least until a way is found to reset the chips.-----and the mp500 is a chipped Canon model.

You might look for any Canon printers----especially the Canon pixma ip3000, 4000, and 5000 -------and then add a seperate flat bed scanner-----just make sure the printer uses a BCI-3eblk cartridges and uses the BCI-3 or 6 color cartridges------these are all unchipped.------anything using CLI-8 color cartridges is chipped.

In general the 6000+ Canon printer models are dedicated photoprinters that lack a text black cartridge which is the BCI-3eblk.

I would check electronic chains who have in recent weeks been clearing out the last of their MP780
for $200. cash and carry-------try Staples and Fry's.-------the mp780 prints, copies, faxes, and scans.
Its the model most likely to be available.-------the MP760 has a slightly better scanner but you lose the fax------and its hard to find anymore. I have an MP730 which is the previous generation to the MP 780 and its an awesome machine------you might be able to find that refurbished but likely not new.

Another option might be Epsons but they tend to clog up and its factory only service if they do---those in the know overwelmingly go Canon.--------but check out Steves digicams or nifty stuff forums for a second opinion.--------or scroll back in the peripherals section some pages back for a discussion of third party ink suppliers.

My ink conern is very minimal since I really dont use the printer alot. It just seemed this POS HP used alot for what I would print out.

I pretty much agree with Lemon. As far as I'm concerned, the last year's model Canons are the way to go for inkjet printers or multifunction units.

If your ink useage is minimal and you plan to use OEM anyway by all means consider a chipped Canon
like the MP500.

But if you are an infrequent inkjet user you have to realise that any inkjet will go through some cleaning cycles that waste ink after being woken up from a long sleep.

I do have a fiend that does have a HP1315V and they have reported no software problems---and now refill to get better economy.----and if your computer is having trouble using the software-----its often for wierd problems hard to find----usually missing or relocated dll's and sometimes due to usb install glitches.

In that infrequent use area, a monochrome laser all in one might be a better choice if you can live without color.
