i'll be donating as soon as my ING money transfers

my mom also has MS

a few weeks after i was born, she was diagnosed with severe MS
they gave her less than 10 years to live
that was 25 years ago

she was in the hospital about 50% of my first 5 years
when she was home, she had nurses and she was bed ridden

Up until i was 10, my relationship with my mom consisted of mostly emptying her bed pan and giving her medication
i would do puzzles by her bedside

since then she has made an amazing recovery (which i contribute to both god and modern medicine)
she started playing guitar, going out (electric wheelchair)
she went from completely blind and paralyzed to being able to see (but still legally blind) and walk (about 40 steps with walker)

she's still goin strong...although not as strong as 5 years ago
she stays up all night playing cards online now
she has daily treatments of some bee sting related medicine

troytime,
Thank you for sharing. That is a wonderful story to hear. :) Obviously your Mom is a fighter. I wish her, and the rest of your family, the very best.

Great to hear that you donated (even if it wasn't to me), and I'll gladly take your bump. :)

I rode in the MS 150 in Central Missouri on September 11th and 12th. Definetly one of the more challenging things I've done in a weekend. Good Luck to your sister-in-law in the ride.

Asking on ATOT was a great idea. If I posted here more often, maybe I would've also. I raised just over $250 asking friends and family here at the University of Missouri.

Anyways, I'll donate another $10 to a good cause.

I would like to personally thank each and every one of you who donate, as someone who was diagnosed with MS last year. It is always great to see people helping out.

In her message she put....
It comes and goes unpredictably, leaving people to wonder, "Will I become paralyzed, blind or have trouble walking? Will I be able to raise my family and continue my career?"

There is no stronger truth about MS, it's all wondering how will it effect me.

Bth47,
Double props to you (1. for riding 1. for donating). :)

Dulanic,
Hopefully w/the help of generous people around the world a way to control, if not cure, MS can be found in our lifetime. I hope that MS affects your life in the least most fashion, but if it starts to take a toll remember all the that are running, walking, riding, and donating in support of you and everyone else w/MS. And remember troytime's mother. Keep fighting and never loss hope. Take full advantage of your "good days" and keep yer chin up during your "bad days."

Best wishes to you,
Lethal

Tuesday afternoon bump and update. I've been able to raise over $300 so far which means I'm 1/3rd of the way to my goal of $1000. ATOT has come up w/a good chunk of that so let's keep the donation ball rollin' guys! :):):)

As if helping your fellow man wasn't enough now you have one more reason to bust out the plastic (see original post for details).

I just found out yesterday that this guy I've met a few times has MS. He's virtually blind in one eye, so I had to read some things from the laptop screen to him. I never would've realized this tho', but we were BS'ing and I inquired why he left the IT field, and it was because of MS.

I did a walk for Breast Cancer earlier this month, but I've tagged this post to possibly donate to MS later tonight.

Good luck.

The fact that MS strikes the central nervous system means that just about any part of the body is fair game. That's one thing that makes MS so bad is it is so unpredictible. That's great that you walked for Breast Cancer. :)
