Help every 5 seconds my cpu % jumps to 51%

Nothing is running in the back ground and when it jumps my mouse stomp moving for a second or if im typing it stops for a second.
Im running win XP

is your computer with the problems sitting next to another computer? if so, i believe your computer likes the other one.... even worse, they be sharing each others power. that jump to 51% could mean its having an orgasm....

I found out what was the problem there was a blank cd in my dvd drive, as soon as I took it out the cpu% droped to 0
