here's my problem... i've jus installed win2k but it wont connect to the internet. when i type in "ipconfig /release", i get the following error msg:

ALL ADAPTERS BOUND TO DHCP DO NOT HAVE DHCP ADDRESSES. DHCP ADDRESSES WERE AUTOMATICALLY CONFIGURED AND CAN NOT TO RELEASED.

i've tried with 4 different ethernet cards (SMC, mystery brand, linksys, netgear). the netgear one works fine but other 3, i get the same problem. as for the SMC card, it worked at first (in diff machine) but now it doesnt work.

please help me!!!

Do you have the router's DHCP server and Windows protocols configured correctly?
Try pinging the NIC (ping 127.0.0.1) and see what happens. If the NIC replies, it's OK. If it doesn't is a hardware/drivers issue.

Make sure you have the NIC set to obtain an IP (and DNSs) automatically. It will find the DHCP server and ask for one.

i pinged it to 127.0.0.1 and it got the reply. i also have ip and dns to be obtained automatically. i tried connecting directly to the modem but same problem. im thinking there might be a problem with resources assigned by the windows differs from the one dat was assigned by the bios (honestly i dunno if this makes sense, just read it somewhere but didnt quite understood) how do i check this? or any other suggestions? thx all for the help
