My CD drives and digital camera memory card reader ("Dazzle") are give errors like the one in the subject.

I googled the error and it says it's caused by Roxio software. I don't have Roxio on this box, I have Nero.

Here's what happened. Everything was working fine then I ran Windows Update, installed Norton utilities and ran the virus check, installed Spybot and ran the scan. After that we found the drives don't work anymore.

I'm thinking that Spybot might have found a spyish file that is actually needed to make the drives run. We are running WinXP-Home Edition.

Please give me some ideas.

Thanks

Tried restoring the things Spybot did. That didn't get the drives to work.
Tried to do a WinXP system restore but it says it can't do it.

If I put in the WinXP CD and boot from CD first - then when I get into Windows and click Windows explorer I can see the CD drive works - but if I try to put in another CD after that it doesn't read.
