I just looked at the log file for our D-Link DL-624 wireless router, and noticed this freqent error:

Dec/10/2004 10:50:16 Drop packet from LAN Out of NAT buffer (1)

Can someone please explain it and tell how/if such an error would a affect a VPN connection?

Check your computers too see if you have Nachi.

Unless you have some rule to drop these packets, it sounds like you are overloading the router with more traffic than it can handle. As a result it would start dropping packets. This would affect any connection, including VPNs, depending on how much traffic is being dropped.

Well, one of the 8 computers had viruses found by that stinger.exe program.

I have also since added two additional "security" features to our wireless router in addition to 128-bit WEP: 1) Turned off SSID broadcast and 2) Enabled MAC filtering.

Hopefully that will keep fewer people from hitting the router.
