Help: dvd hiccups!

I get occasional hiccups when playing a dvd on my computer, yet I have no idea why. I use to have an older system, and I recently got a computer upgrade, but the hiccups still persist. Any clues? I'm using cyberlink's powerdvd version 4.0.

Old system specs:
p3 450
128mb pc 100
Abit BH6
diamond tnt2
creative soundblaster live value
creative 12x dvd/cdrom drive

New system specs:
amd 1000
256mb ddr pc1500
Epox 8kha
diamond tnt2
creative soundblaster live value
createive 12x dvd/cdrom drive

I have two harddrives, and they are the primary master and slave. My dvd drive is the secondary master, with no secondary slave. What could possibly be the problem?
