Ok. Installed a new MadDog dual layer dvd burner in my machine. It shows up as a dvd/cd-rom. It does not recognize it as a burner of any type in windows or in Nero.

HELP! 🙂

I'm downloading the firmware update now. this is my parent's computer and it's on dial up so.... 🙁

ah ok i feel for ya. i have dsl and i love it. i hope the firmware update works for you. ill have my fingers and toes crossed for you.

well.. here's what happened..
the drive's name is now "DVD-RW", but the type is cd-rom and it says that it is a standard drive. isn't even reading the model like it was before 🙁

Probably need to update the burn software if you want to use the DVD burner. Go into BIOS and verify that the burner is set to AUTO detect. Save and exit. Go into Device Manager and remove the IDE channel with the DVD burner. Reboot PC and windows will reload the driver.

You sir, have a NEC 3500  As for the problem, do you have a version of Nero that supports DVD burning?
