So, I've decided to upgrade my ATI 9600 pro to a 6600GT but can't decide which brand card to get!

I've narrowed it down to Leadtek or Gigabyte, AGP only cuz i don't have a PCI-E mboard.

Anyone with experience with both cards or feed back, I greatly appreciate it.

I won't be overclocking the cards and my main concern is noise and heat.

thanks!

I'd go with the Leadtek board. Leadtek has always made pretty good products, and their service isn't bad either.

Just curious, but why aren't you looking at MSI or BFG? They also make very good products.

I sooooo want the fanless one but thats PCI-E only :(

I found 1 store that has the MSI but according to the Tom's review the MSI permance is low compare to Leadtek and Gigabyte. Leadtek is the clear winner in the benchmarks but I stumbled on to a Nivida forums and there was alot of post about people with problems with their Leadtek 6600GT and not much post on the Gigabyte. BFG is kinda expensive... :p

The funny thing is, I'm still running the stock cooling and everything runs fine. I couldn't fathom that I would get such a rockin overclock with zero effort.

I really like my MSI 6600GT (AGP), I highly recommend it. Comes with alot of games and software too. It overclocks nicely and plays alot of the new games without any problems, at least in my experience.

Edit, My stock temps run at 52c and during FarCry or HL-2 around 54-55c. As far as noise goes, I have 7 fans running so I can't tell if it's quite or not....:p

Hi all,

I am also about to buy a 6600gt AGP and trying to decide which brand. Please excuse me for dropping into your topic but maybe I can add some value.

MSI is 25% more expensive over here so i guess I'll drop it.

Gigabyte and Leadtek do not seem to be available at all, at least not with AGP slot.

So, I've narrowed down my options to either an ASUS or XFX. Have you guys looked at these cards at all? Any useful feedback?

Thanks. ;)

I made the jump and bought the Leadtek and a enermax noisetaker psu. I uninstalled my old ATI 9600 pro drivers, did a driver clean, updated my chipset drivers and bios and no problems :D no green artifact, i ran 3dmark05 and 3dmark03 and both ran without any problems. My score for 05 is 3104 and for 03 is 7443, which is about right for a P4 2.6 machine.

so far so good..i guess i was lucky
