First of all, hello everyone... This is my first post, but over the past month or so, I've found it difficult to stray too far or too long from these forums. It seems like I've learned so much over just the last few weeks.
Anyway, two days ago, I put together my first PC, but I am getting an error message at random intervals. The error message says, "Windows has detected and recovered from a device failure, please save your work and reboot." The resolution reduces, as if Windows is in Safe Mode. I can continue working, but I usually just reboot. And when I reboot, everything is fine again.
Here are the specs of my computer:
P4 2.4b@2.987 FSB@166 Vcore 1.575
Volcano 7+
Asus P4G8X
2X Corsair 256 XMS 3200LL (2-2-2-5) V2.6
WD 800gb 8mb cache
Pioneer DVD 16X slot loaded
Plextor CD-RW 48X24X48
ATI Radeon 9500 Pro
SB Audigy 2
Antec 430W
Cooler Master ATC-210
Temperatures
Idle 43*C
Prime95 56*C
I began noticing the error message after the OC, but I did not run the machine long before the OC so I'm not sure what that means. I then reduced the FSB to 166 from 167 and set the Vcore to 1.575. Afterwards, I ran Prime95 overnight for about ten hours last night without any errors. However, this morning when I was downloading WMP 9, I got the error message again. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with a network device since it seems to happen when I'm surfing the net or downloading stuff. I don't think it's the DVD-ROM or the CD-RW because I got the error message when they weren't even installed yet.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks a bunch.
