This is the processor I currently have http://ark.intel.com/products/29739/Intel-Pentium-Processor-E2160-(1M-Cache-1_80-GHz-800-MHz-FSB).

This is the MOBO I currently have http://support.gateway.com/s/MOTHERBD/Shared/4006244R/4006244Rnv.shtml.

The question is, what types of processors for upgrading the cpu can this board handle. Is this my answer http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGA_775. Meaning the list of cpus on the right. Or is there some of these that my MOBO can't handle. And which would be the best bang for the buck?

Thanks in advance

It is not that simple. These motherboards are made specifically for the CPU and a possibly higher TDP processor will have some problems. There is also the possibility that the BIOS itself does not support and lack of proper BIOS updates will limit the choice of possible LGA775 processors that could fit.

Upgrading an already dead end platform is a waste of money. You're better off with a low cost LGA1155 Intel Pentium SB setup(CPU+MB+RAM) if low budget is an issue.

With a 945 chipset the list will be short. Honestly its not even worth the money to buy an older C2D to throw into this system.
