help! dead monitor

I went to turn my monitor on and all it does is make this clicking noise...Its a gateway ev700. Does anyone know whats wrong?

Turn on your PC then turn on the monitor. Wait a minute then turn off your monitor and turn it on again real fast. See if you see any video at all even if only for a second. This usually indicates a sync problem. Very common with NEC monitors. I dont know who makes that dell model though. Usually its not worth fixing if out of warranty.
