Help...Dead comp wont boot - Do you know Why???

Ok so heres the situation. I was using my comp then my intake fan on the side panel started clacking cus it was hitting against my TT Tower112 HSF (huge) and so I thought well let me shut it down and put a grill on the inside part of the fan to avoid this, but before I can do this my comp completely dies! :frown: So then I unplug and replug everythign in and it only starts for 1 second. The lights and fan go on for one sec and shuts down again. I do it many times with the same result. Then I started stripping the hardware one by one until all I had was the mobo, proc and ram. I still got the same problem.

Im assuming it could be a prob with the mobo or the psu?? What do you guys think? Any input is greatly appreciated thanks.

Unplug it all, and take out the battery. Wait 30 seconds, leave the battery out, and turn it on.

You sure the heatsink didn't get moved? It sounds like it might be thermal protection kicking the box off due to CPU overheat.

Is the CPU fan spinning when you turn it on?

Tango: No Im pretty sure the hsf did not get moved cus its basically bolted down.
Winterlude: NOthing is turned on at all when I turn the comp on, the lights and fans just flash for a sec and then it turns off.
aGreenAgent: Would taking the battery out reset the mobo bios? Is that what you think the problem is?

Make sure you unplug the sytem, then take the battery out for 20 minutes.

Would like to know what that does exactly? does it just reset the bios?

With a bit of luck, it will just reset the BIOS to its defaults.
This is a good first step.
If you can remeber some of your BIOS settings, then, if you are lucky, you can boot into BIOS and reinstate them manually.

If you can't get it to work, then we got to do some troubleshoot.
