Hey guys - I live in Orange County and I use Kazaa. Well I (being the dumbass I am) downloaded copyrighted material via Kazaa and today I recieved an email from my ISP (Cox Communications) stating that I have abused their policy and they forwarded me Warner Bros email to them about me.

I dont know what to do - should I copy and paste this email on this thread? There are certain conditions they state that they say they wont disable my account, but what else should i do?

- Should I call?

So Far I uninstalled Kazaa.

Please help me - Im stressing out!

Reformat, write zeros to your drive, then tell them that you have no idea what they're talking about :p

Well I think that I may have downloaded copyrighted material via Kazaa

No way would I help you or give you advice after saying that. Your dumbass should know it was copyrighted and you might get caught. Saying that it might have been copyrighted is the silliest thing I have ever heard.

Uh.. Mill? He's asking what he should do to get his ass out of owning up for something that he's done.

You probably shouldn't be expecting too many great things with this one.

What were the terms under which they would not terminate your service? Something like agreeing to pay for extra bandwidth usage or agree not to use any P2P filesharing programs again? If available it would be better to take one of those options than losing your cable internet.

Were you previously notified that action may be taken if you do not comply? If so, too bad. Otherwise, you might consider calling them and asking them to keep your account open if you uninstall all P2P software, delete all copyright-violated material off of your computer, and promise never to do it again.

if you don't post anything I would think only the news server can monitor what you do

Umm unless your ISP is actually looking for it then it is safe. That is unless you are a poster. A reader has no problems. ISP's don't have the time to look through logs unless someone forces them too like in this case.
