i just put my first system together. the specs are:

epox 8rda+
2500+ barton
crucial 512mb ram pc2700
radeon 9100.
lite on 52x
maxtor 80gb 8 mb

ok so i have put everything together. when i turn the computer on the fan works and so does the cd-rw( the lite turns on but it does not open). on the mother board the led remains at FF which means first boot. the fan on the heatsink does not work. i have checked the powersupply and other stuff a couple of times. what can the problem be?

All pins are correctly attach to the motherboard from the powersupply i.e. power ?
Remount the CPU and make sure its properly seated correctly.

Just for chuckles, remove all power from the cd-rom, hard drive, etc. Also remove the ATX powersupply connnector from motherboard and then reconnect it.

Power up.

Recheck all your work.

Also, reinstall the memory just to make sure it is seated properly.

As newbiepcuser mentioned, disconnect everything that isn't really critical. Basically you need the cpu, hsf, memory, power, and video card installed to do a quick boot test.

everything is connected. i think the problem is the motherboard or the processor/heatsink. when i turn the computer only the led light comes on. the cpu fan does not turn on. is the problem with the motherboard?

Are you 100% positive that the CPU fan is connected to the correctly on the motherboard?

Trying reinstalling the CPU.

Zainali, checked the user reviews on this board at Newegg and it looks like you might have a bad mb. The problem you have mentioned was listed several times in the reviews and each person had to RMA the board.

just my luck. should i try getting the asus deluxe stuff or just a regular a78nx? i feel like staying away from epox.
