Quick summary:

Last night my computer decided to go ahead and power off on me out of the blue when i had loaded a game and the game went to load in. This has happened for atleast two games and the pc would simply just shut off. I let it sit for an hour in hopes of it just being heat or something of the nature. Thing is sometimes i tend to leave the comp on all night....this morning as im got home from school i was going to utilize my day to get alot of homework done but seeing how the shit isnt working now i am pretty agitated. I went to power it on...and about 30 seconds or less in it shuts off. I let it sit for like 5 minutes..go to best buy and buy some dust spray and come back and spray it out..turn it back on and it turns on for no more than 2 seconds then shuts right off. I built this pc in 2005 and have had two power supplies...the first one i bought from best buy and the sucker stopped after 1 month...then i went and bought an ultra x-connect module power supply and well now i dont know. Could my issue be the power supply? Thats what I am leaning towards, i hope so because once i get this fucker up and running this baby is getting reformatted and then ill be deciding if i want it to go bye bye because i desperately need my computer for my homework since our teacher assigns it to us for online access and we require to download things. If anyone can help me out you dont know how much I appreciate it! Im a desperate college student in need of some serious help on this......

information on my comp for info on specs:

hardwoare:
cooler master 120mm radiator liquid cooler heatsink with radiator fan in the back
2.8ghz intel p4 ht processor
2 gigs of ram
256mb ati radeon x850 pro
motherboard is asus but forgot which prand...something like PC4800c-e or so
power supply - x-connect module power supply(had it for approx 2 years...yes i have left the computer on all day sometimes..sometimes for atleast 4 days straight)
160gb hd connected through sata...

that should be good enough info for starters since other things just arent pertinent. I am hoping its hte powersupply in all honesty because i checked how hot my cpu runs under full load(such as playing games kind of full load) and it runs at approx 48-55 i believe thats celsius

When the system just out right shuts off like that its a pretty good indication that the system is trying to pull more power then the PSU can supply to it.

Replace the power supply. Even if it's not the issue (I would think it is) it is time you upgraded to something better than that ultra crap.

push comes to shove i just purchased a new laptop from newegg...they had no payments for 12 months on laptops 999 and up...picked this one out:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16834147748

i love hp's always have and honestly i want to get rid of vista when i get it..but ill see whats up. I really need to have a computer so i had this one over-nighted...paid 1047.19 with the overnighted...not bad...first laptop :) im excited...plus its going to be more convenient because now i can actually do homework on the go

so in reality do you honestly think ultra is a bad ps? the computer turns on and what not but just doesnt go into bios..sounds like a bad motherboard issue

Nice laptop but not exactly lightweight, more of a desktop replacement.

Yes, I would never use an ultra power supply. Your motherboard could be bad but so could the power supply.
