his worked in win 98 but when i did this in win2000 it did not work so i made back all the changes i made. Now my start botton highlights all the icon in each sub folder

ex. Accessories all the icons appear if they were highlighted\, but if i go to the specific program it still works. Is there a way I can make it look normal liek before all the changes.

thanks

mhan80,

Just for future reference, when editing the registry in Windows 2000 Microsoft recommends using the regedt32.exe registry editor instead of the old regedit.exe editor. There's a sort of "mini-wizard" (my term, not Microsoft's) for creating new values that helps prevent the user from getting a registry corruption or invalid registry entry. Regedt32.exe shows the registry in a different format from regedit.exe, and it takes a bit of time to get used to it, but it really does work better for most purposes.

Regards,
Jim
