Help - Computer not POSTing

Ok so I ordered a new mobo (Soltek SL-75MRN-L) and threw my old CPU from my old A7V333-X motherboard into it, and bleh, doesn't POST. So I figure could be motherboard, and put it back in my old motherboard and...doesn't POST! So I figure I fried my CPU! So I order a AMD 2600 XP CPU, put it in the new motherboard and it still won't post. My question is, is it possible since the ram is not specific to this motherboard that that is the reason it doesn't post? It is of the right speed (the board supports DDR400) but the ram isn't like, specific to a Soltek SL-75MRN-L board. Does anyone know how ram interacts with motherboards in this sense? Would that cause it to not POST (absolutely nothing happens aside from the powerup - LED comes on, fan on the CPU turns on, harddrives don't boot and nothing happens on the screen). Help!
 
have you made sure everything is properly seated? mobo not touching back of case? try new RAM out as well, then a new CPU, then a new mobo, then a new videocard. Isolate the problem first.
 
did all of that...its a new cpu, new mobo...my question though is do I need ram in the computer to get a POST? Cause I think that might be the problem because this ram isn't specific to the motherboard. But the motherboard supports DDR400 which it is. Everythings been reseated again and again 🙁
 
it doesn't matter if ram is specific to a motherboard. ram should work for all motherboards. try just putting in the ram, video card, and cpu and see if it works. if it doesn't, try swapping in some new ram.
 
The A7V333 has a built-in speech post if you plug speakers into the speaker-out plug on the back (not the internal speaker). Do that and tell us what it says. It will say "bad CPU" or "bad memory", etc.....
 
Oh, you may have to reset the CMOS if you disabled that feature before. BTW, I love my A7V333, it works better than my A7N8X deluxe in many things. (except no SATA)
 
Hmm, well it will work in my old mobo says that thing (its a 2600+ 333 barton) so I guess it's worth a shot...wish I could use my new mobo though...I'll tell you how it goes.
 
No dice...put it in, everything boots up properly, but still nothing on te screen. Not even a flicker. HD spins up, CPU is running as well as fans, CD-ROMs and everything getting power, mobo beeps like it ought to...now I plugged in my speakers and listened but I didnt hear any "bad cpu" or "bad memory" like you said...does it actually say that or is it like a beep that it makes?
