HELP!!! Computer not booting. No video. Tried everything. Video card fan spinning on highest speed non-stop!

if it's on the original BIOS then you really should update.
The reason I asked about G92s is that quite a lot of (at least) early G92s wouldn't run on a no. of boards with PCI-E 1.x but with a different video BIOS they would then run fine.

Yeah I know about the warranty but I don't want to pay, may not be worth it...

and I sure as heck hope the BFG 650i ultra motherboard works with my 8800GTS
without updating the BIOS!

cool, well I am about to hook up my BFG 650i ultra which just arrived... let's hope it works with my 8800gts g92 without any bios updates or anything...

I think the motherboard arrived DOA. Upon inspection, one of the pin-type things in the motherboard where the CPU goes was bent the wrong way so I bent it back to the correct position and inserted the CPU, but I had the same symptons as before after connecting everything and turning on the computer.

I am wondering if my CPU itself could be defective... it is an e6600 2.4 ghz CPU that I had overclocked to 3.2 ghz or 3.4 ghz for gaming. In the last month or so it would refuse to overclock to 3.0 ghz or 3.2 ghz, and it would ONLY overclock to 3.4 ghz... which I think had the lowest FSB. I did not think until now that perhaps the CPU is defective and not the motherboard.

If the CPU was defective, would anything appear on the screen at all? Would the motherboard say "CPU problem" or something?

As for the BFG 650i:

They are sending me another motherboard and said I can throw the first one in the garbage.
This seems good, but I am wondering if their motherboards are junk and that is why they
don't mind sending another one without getting this one back?

Well the CPU is definately fine, as I have always suspected... just tried it on the free Intel DG33TL motherboard and it worked fine along with that G.skill RAM I bought from newegg. I am surprised that the motherboard only got an average of 3/5 rating on Newegg - it works perfectly for what it is supposed to do and I did not even have to reinstall Windows to get all the drivers working right. I did have to activate Windows over the internet since the hardware had changed but that was easy too and I did not have to have an online chat with Microsoft this time, it just activated itself automatically. I must be on the "he's ok, no piracy threat" list, lol :)

I am just glad to have a working computer now, and I plan to make this into a gaming + media center or just a media center and either use it or sell it, and then put together a system with the replacement BFG motherboard that is on the way... Now, what to do with my brand new retail boxed q6700 CPU and Windows Vista Home Premium full version??
Maybe I will end up using this CPU as is a bit of a hassle selling it, but I am thinking it might be more "slick" to sell it and then get an e8500 3.16 ghz for around $180-190. On second thought, that CPU is unlikey to work with the old BFG 650i motherboard without a BIOS update, which I will probably not want to attempt.

I will figure it all out eventually but I am open to suggestions. I have 2 video cards right now, both only used a few months: an EVGA 8800GTS 512 g92 and a BFG 8800GT 512 g92.

How did you get on with the Abit mikeny1?.....Having read several threads concerning IP35 failing after certain period, I'm getting worried....

The Abit board died and I am sending it in for RMA service.
If you have an Abit motherboard and it has been a week or
so less than one year since you bought it, submit an RMA
request now (even if the board is working properly) and you
will have a 90 day extention on the warranty. Otherwise you
have to pay at least $20 to have it fixed. (IF they even do
anything about it.)

Just overclocked the e6600 to 3 ghz using SOFTWARE!
Since the Intel DG33TL does not allow any type of
overclocking at all, I used SetFSB after lowering my
RAM speed from 800 to 667 mhz in the BIOS.

To my surprise, the overclock was STABLE and worked
just fine throughout a long game of Supreme Commander
Forged Alliance, one of my favorite games! :)

I am not sure if I should try that again though, but the
motherboard has a 3 year warranty and I don't think Intel
would have any way of knowing I was overclocking...

It's 2 years parts & labour, only in the 3rd year do they charge labour.

the double boot affects all abit ip35-e/pro baords and can be fixed by updating to the latest bios ,after flashing it will boot normally without restarting ,but "only" if the board has standby power ,if you unplug the pc from the mains at any point then it will double boot again on the nxt startup,but should be ok after that.

it annoyed me hugely so i flashed the bios ,and now it no longer double boots :)

(actually it doesnt boot at all atm due to the bord being dead) :D

Which of your boards is dead, the ip35-e or the ip35P?

my ip35-e started not booting also, it has to warmup before it boots... O well w/e. I'll just leave the pc on :)

Abit was very good about the return process and they sent me a new motherboard promptly.
As soon as I have a chance to test it I will post the results here...

Rifleman, what did you end up doing? Anyone else having trouble with their Abit IP35-E?
