Hi. Yesterday I took my hdd out and over to a mates place so we could swap files. When I put my hdd back in my pc I didn?t boot (powered and just sat there no beeps or crunches) after leaving it off for a while it booted up fine. Today once again it won?t boot (same no beeps or crunches). However one time it did say a file was missing (sorry cant remember what on but it was in system) and I needed to run the recover console but then when I went to restart it, it wouldn?t boot. Then it managed to boot up fine so I decided that I would run sfc to replace the missing or corrupted file that it mentioned but the pc blue screened saying windows logon system terminated unexpectedly. After getting it to boot up again I selected it to run a scan disk on next boot as well as sfc but when I restarted it just beep constantly at me. Does anyone have any idea what is wrong? Is the hdd dying?

I assume you are running XP. I would insert the XP install disk, boot to it and do a repair install to try to fix the problem.

My problem is causing me great frustration. Once the computer has started up normally it runs fine but other times when I go to turn it on it still wont POST (this is what I meant about no beeps and clicks). How do I go about finding out why my computer want boot sometimes and will other?
