Help: comp hangs at verifying dmi pool data

As it says in the title. I recently moved my hardware into a new case and now it won't completely boot. What I've tried:

1. cleared CMOS
2. fail-safe defaults for BIOS
3. tried both IDE channels (making sure all connections were properly seated)
4. tried two different IDE cables
5. used recovery console to repair MBR
6. installed XP over current installation (unable to complete since it hangs)

Is there anything else I can do? TIA.

Specs:
ABIT IC7
P4 3.2E
4x 512MB OCZ PC4200
128MB GF6800OC
2x Maxtor 250GB/16MB cache
DVD-ROM
DVD-RW

I've disabled all the IDE drives via the BIOS and it'll say to replace the system disk. Right now I have only one HDD connected and 2x of the sticks of RAM and it's still hanging.

Any floppy drive? You have the floppy cables upside down if you have one.

No I don't have one, but I figured it out and boy do I feel stupid. I have my HDDs on cable select and when I swapped the cases I accidentally put the master second on the chain so it became the slave and caused the issue. Thanks you two for the time though. I guess it was about time for a reformat anyways, haha :-/
